{"id":6573,"date":"2026-03-27T14:39:02","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T14:39:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marketspaceinsights.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/27\/at-least-40-of-russias-oil-export-capacity-halted-reuters-calculations-show\/"},"modified":"2026-03-27T14:39:02","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T14:39:02","slug":"at-least-40-of-russias-oil-export-capacity-halted-reuters-calculations-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marketspaceinsights.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/27\/at-least-40-of-russias-oil-export-capacity-halted-reuters-calculations-show\/","title":{"rendered":"At least 40% of Russia\u2019s oil export capacity halted, Reuters calculations show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"anchor-f6dd91\" class=\"body-graf\">At least 40% of Russia\u2018s oil export capacity is at a halt following Ukrainian drone attacks, a disputed attack on a major pipeline and the seizure of tankers, according to Reuters calculations based on market data.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-ff274d\" class=\"body-graf\">The shutdown is the most severe oil supply disruption in the modern history of Russia, the world\u2019s second largest oil exporter, and has hit Moscow just as oil prices exceeded $100 a barrel due to the Iran war.<\/p>\n<div id=\"taboolaReadMoreBelow\"><\/div>\n<p id=\"anchor-f483c3\" class=\"body-graf\">Russia&#8217;s oil output is one of the main sources of revenue for the national budget and is central to the $2.6 trillion economy.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"styles_inlineImage__FvnTh styles_medium__MEKii\" id=\"anchor-f452c4\"><figcaption class=\"caption styles_caption__TCewG\" data-testid=\"caption\"><span class=\"caption__container\" data-testid=\"caption__container\">An oil tanker moored in Novorossiysk, Russia, in 2022.<\/span><span class=\"caption__source\" data-testid=\"caption__source\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p id=\"anchor-093a99\" class=\"body-graf\">Ukraine intensified drone attacks on Russia\u2018s oil and fuel export infrastructure this month, hitting all three of Russia\u2018s major western oil export ports, including Novorossiysk on the Black Sea and Primorsk and Ust-Luga on the Baltic Sea.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-d4b9b2\" class=\"body-graf\">According to Reuters calculations, about 40% of Russia\u2018s crude oil export capabilities \u2014 or around 2 million barrels per day, were shut as of Wednesday after the most recent attack.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-b80e13\" class=\"body-graf\">That includes Primorsk and Ust-Luga as well as the Druzhba pipeline, which runs through Ukraine to Hungary and Slovakia.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-fde340\" class=\"body-graf\">Kyiv has also targeted pipeline oil pumping stations and refineries. Kyiv says it aims to diminish Moscow\u2019s oil and gas revenue, which accounts for around a quarter of Russia\u2018s state budget proceeds, and weaken its military might.<\/p>\n<p id=\"anchor-740e5c\" class=\"body-graf\">Russia says the Ukrainian strikes are terrorist attacks and has tightened security across its 11 time zones.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"styles_inlineImage__FvnTh styles_medium__MEKii\" id=\"anchor-60179f\"><figcaption class=\"caption styles_caption__TCewG\" data-testid=\"caption\"><span class=\"caption__container\" data-testid=\"caption__container\">Firefighters extinguish a blaze at a chemical transport terminal at Russia&#8217;s Ust-Luga port on Jan. 21, 2024.
